This category looks at open schools around the postcode, using the Department for Education's school register and published Ofsted judgements. We record the share of nearby rated schools judged good or outstanding, how far the closest school is, and whether a secondary is within a practical distance. It is not a catchment guarantee, and it is not a league table of the area.
For many households, school provision is the thing that actually decides the shortlist. A postcode can look attractive on price or commute and still sit a long walk from a rated primary, or next to schools whose latest published judgements are mixed. Putting the published picture on the same page as transport and prices stops that from being a later surprise.
If you are moving with children, or planning to, you need to know what is already published about local provision before you view a home. The figure will not tell you which school your child will get a place at. It will tell you whether the area has rated schools nearby, and how those schools were judged when Ofsted last inspected them. That is the part of the decision the public data can support, so it belongs in the Area Measure.
